Midjourney pricing in 2026: every plan, the real cost per image, and when a bundle wins

Midjourney runs four plans from $10 to $120/month. Here's exactly what each tier gets you, the true cost per image once fast GPU hours run out, and when a multi-model bundle is the smarter buy for video creators.

Midjourney is still the benchmark for AI image quality in 2026 — but its pricing model confuses almost everyone the first time, because you’re not really buying “images.” You’re buying fast GPU hours, and the number of pictures that translates to depends entirely on how you generate.

Here’s the honest breakdown of all four plans, what each one actually unlocks, the real cost per image, and — because this matters for anyone making video — when you’re better off with a tool that bundles image generation alongside everything else.

Midjourney’s four plans at a glance

PlanMonthlyAnnual (per mo)Fast GPU timeRelax modeStealth
Basic$10$8~3.3 hours (~200 images)NoNo
Standard$30$2415 hoursUnlimitedNo
Pro$60$4830 hoursUnlimitedYes
Mega$120$9660 hoursUnlimitedYes

Annual billing knocks 20% off every tier. Run out of fast hours and you can buy more at $4 per hour on any plan.

What “fast GPU hours” actually means

This is the part that trips people up. A single image generation takes roughly one minute of fast GPU time. So:

  • Basic’s 3.3 hours ≈ ~200 generations before you’re out. That’s where the “200 images” figure comes from — it’s not a hard image cap, it’s the math on the GPU budget.
  • Standard and up include unlimited “Relax mode” — slower, queued generations that don’t burn your fast hours. This is the real reason to jump from Basic to Standard: once your fast hours are gone on Basic, you stop. On Standard you just switch to Relax and keep working, slower.

So the practical read:

  • Basic ($10) is for hobbyists who generate a few hundred images a month and never need them in a hurry.
  • Standard ($30) is the first “real” plan — unlimited generations via Relax, 15 fast hours for when you’re iterating live.
  • Pro ($60) adds Stealth mode, which keeps your images private instead of posting them to Midjourney’s public gallery. If you’re doing client or commercial work, this matters.
  • Mega ($120) is just more fast hours for high-volume studios.

The real cost per image

On Basic, $10 ÷ ~200 images = about $0.05 per imageif you use all your fast hours efficiently and waste nothing. In reality, most people burn 3–4 attempts to land one keeper, so the effective cost of a usable image is closer to $0.15–$0.20.

On Standard and above, the per-image cost approaches zero in Relax mode (unlimited) — you’re really paying for speed and privacy, not volume.

The catch nobody mentions: Midjourney makes stills, not video

Here’s the strategic point. Midjourney is the best in the world at one thing — a single beautiful frame. It does not make video. If your end product moves — a product ad, a social clip, a YouTube B-roll shot — a Midjourney subscription is only the first line item in your stack. You’ll still need:

  • A video model (Sora, Veo, Kling, Runway…) to animate or generate motion
  • Often a voice/music tool on top

That’s three or four subscriptions to ship one moving deliverable. (We break the video side down in Sora pricing and Google Veo pricing.)

When a bundle beats Midjourney + a video tool

If you’re a still-image purist — branding, concept art, print — buy Midjourney directly. Nothing bundled matches its top-end image quality, full stop.

But if your images are a means to a video, the math changes. Deevid AI bundles image generation plus 14+ video models (Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Pika…) for $25/month on the Pro tier — and crucially, it can take a generated still and animate it (image-to-video) inside the same tool. For a video-first creator, that replaces a Midjourney + Sora + voice stack with one bill.

Make stills that move — in one tool. Deevid bundles image generation and 14+ video models. Generate a frame, then animate it, without a second subscription. Start with 20 free credits, no card required.

The honest split:

  • Pure image quality, no video → Midjourney. Buy Standard ($30) for unlimited Relax generations.
  • Images that need to become video → a bundle like Deevid ($25 Pro) is cheaper than Midjourney + a separate video subscription, and keeps the workflow in one place.

Which Midjourney plan should you actually pick?

  • Just trying it / hobby use: Basic at $10/mo, billed annually if you’re sure ($8/mo).
  • Working creator, daily use: Standard at $30 — the unlimited Relax mode alone justifies the jump from Basic.
  • Client or commercial work: Pro at $60 for Stealth mode (private images).
  • Studio / high volume: Mega at $120 — only if 30 fast hours genuinely isn’t enough.

The bottom line

Midjourney’s pricing is fair for what it is: the best AI image quality money can buy, sold by GPU time rather than image count. Basic at $10 is a genuinely cheap entry; Standard at $30 is where most working creators land.

Just remember what it isn’t: a video tool. If your deliverables move, price out the full stack before you commit — and compare it against a bundle that does images and video in one place. For many creators shipping social and product video, that’s the cheaper, simpler path.
